Arts Are Elementary and Points of View Artists are pleased to announce the results of the fifth annual art exhibit and benefit, held on Friday, September 29.  A total of 102 works of art by Maine artists were sold that evening, more than in any othr year of the event.  Each piece sold for $200, with $100 going to the artist and $100 going to Arts Are Elementary to support its artist-in-residence program.  In addition, works by notable Maine artists were auctioned and raised $3,000 more.

The event was a huge success thanks to the 185 artists who contributed work, the many local restaurants that contributed food, local businesses that helped defray the costs of the event by contributing funds or materials, and the hosts at the two venues:  St Paul's Episcopal Church and the Curtis Memorial Library.

A special thank you goes to the large number of volunteers who organized the event, framed and hung the artwork, and produced a spectacular evening to celebrate the arts.  An event like this one demonstrates the power of local commitment to a worthy cause.  Each of Brunswick's elementary students will have a creative experience with a Maine artist during the 2012/2013 school year, funded in large part by the success of the 10X10 benefit show.

Finally, a huge thank you to the many art patrons who braved the rain to come to the event and who were willing to support our efforts by purchasing a piece of art.  Without you, none of this would be possible.  We hope to see you back again next fall!

Summary:

The 10X10 benefit show sold over 100 pieces of original art and successfully auctioned works of art from 10 notable Maine artists.  Funds are used to support the artist-in-residence program that benefits all Brunswick elementary school students.
