Season of Promise

Monday, September 7, 2020 to Friday, October 30, 2020

After a summer of virtual art shows and limited socializing, Points of View Artists are looking forward to new beginnings and fresh perspectives in hopes that the pandemic will loosen its grip.  Work in this show represents some of the joys of summer, the vibrancy of color, and the inspiration behind the artists’ creativity.

Title Work(s)
Garden Painting No. 2

Alan Mast

acrylic on canvas, 18” x 18”, $450

I had an urge in this piece to pull out all the stops and create riotous color, drawing from my summer of pandemic gardening.

Untitled No. 2, 2020

Alan Mast

acrylic on canvas, 16” x 20”, $450

This is one of my “white” paintings, achieved by covering a colorful underpainting with white acrylic, cutting out forms with my brush, then scratching decorative marks and adding some color patches to the final work.

Kyoto

Ed McCartan

acrylic, 36" x 36", $800

The delicacy of these plants and the sparseness of the composition reminded me of so much that I love about Japanese painting.

A Thin Place

Ed McCartan

acrylic, 36" x 36", $800

There is a belief in Celtic lore that some areas of the earth are gateways, or "thin" hiding places for the sacred as well as the earthly.

A new direction: vertical garden flags

Nancy Marstaller

each flag is about 7” X 22”; sold separately, at $35 each

The flags are printed on cotton cloth with waterproof inks, so they can hang inside or out.

These linocut images are inspired by gratitude for the world of amazing creatures that surround us.
