• Hati Modr’s, “Color Play 2”, chosen to represent the 2015 10x10 Beneft Art Exhibit and Sale

The 10 x 10 Benefit Art Exhibit and Sale is coming soon.  Arts Are Elementary has announced that Harpswell artist Hati Modr’s piece, Color Play 2, has been chosen to represent this year’s event, which is a highly anticipated fundraiser for the Arts Are Elementary artist-in-residence program.

Color Play 2 is a delightful example of Modr’s work, utilizing light and color in a still life. In Hati’s words of finding art subjects, “I will suddenly be captured by a sudden color, a soft glow, a shadow shape, and I think- ‘I gotta get this!’ ”  Hati’s distinctive and colorful work is a reflection of studio treasures, local scenes and visits to Monhegan Island. She shows her landscapes and other paintings at various venues including The Stable Gallery in Damariscotta. She is a member of the Five Rivers Arts Alliance and teaches oil painting at her studio, The Blue Door, in Harpswell. Her husband, Robert, contributes to her work by creating custom frames and creative support.

The 10x10 Committee received 24 submissions to the publicity contest from an impressive group of talented Maine artists, making for a challenging decision. The runner up for the publicity contest poster was Corey Bucknam for her stunning ceramic piece, Marine Abstraction #1.

This year's 10x10 Benefit Art Exhibit & Sale will be Friday, September 25 from 6 to 8:30pm at Curtis Memorial Library and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. All works of art will be available to view online beginning September 2 at our website www.10x10brunswick.org. Public Previews will take place September 24 from 6-9pm and 25 from 12-3pm at both venues. All proceeds of the 10x10 benefit the local nonprofit, Arts Are Elementary, which has been providing arts experiences in Brunswick classrooms since 1980.
