• The Art of dee’s ICE CREAM Packaging

    Richmond Store Gallery
    Featuring Barbara Bean

dee’s ICE CREAM at Crystal Spring Farm in Brunswick was owned by the Dionne family who closed it in 1970 and subsequently sold the farm and surrounding fields and woodlands to the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust. To make room for the growing activities of the farm, the Land Trust released from storage packaging from dee’s ice cream and offered it to local artists.  Edward Mackenzie and Barbara Bean have used the material to create more than fifty pieces of assemblage art.  This unique opportunity and these unique artworks demonstrate how creativity can take ephemeral, inexpensive materials and turn them into novel, lasting expressions that tickle our modern fancies and remind us of past joys.

The Art of dee’s ICE CREAM Packaging will be on display at Edward's art gallery from August 3 through the end of October.  Join Edward and Barbara at an artists' reception on August 3, from 4 to 8 pm.  Location:  Richmond Store Gallery, 54 Main Street, Richmond, ME.  FMI:  www.RichmondStoreGallery.com, EdwardMackenzieArt@gmail.com, or 207-737-4724.  Additional information on the News page of this website.
