Finding Form

Tuesday, July 7, 2020 to Saturday, August 1, 2020

Specializing in different media, Ed McCartan and Jackie Melissas bring fresh imagination to each piece of art they create as they continually seek to find the form that fits their vision.

Ed works in acrylic – often on very large canvases, sometimes small.  His work is a blend of bright color, evocative images and frequently an organizing underlay of geometry.  Ed’s work finds its forms in nature.  Sometimes these forms are abstract, and at other times they tilt toward what looks "real."   In all they reflect his love of nature and result from his dialogue with the natural world.

Jackie enjoys exploring surface finishes that are a result of a diverse range of firing techniques. Her vessels frequently embrace non-traditional forms and unexpected visual complexity. She's  drawn to fire, the sensual nature of clay,  and to the organic essence of each individual slab of clay. Resulting pieces are frequently as surprising to her as they are to her audience...She likes this part of the creative process best!
