A year-long collaboration by eighteen artists from two Maine printmaking groups culminates in the opening of their show, Collaborative Connections, on July 13 in Gardiner. Members of Circling the Square Fine Arts Press and One of a Kind Printers are hosting a public reception at Circling the Square, 275 Water Street, Gardiner from 5 to 7 pm. The show runs until August 4.
Collaborative Connections refers to the process by which the artists created the unique prints on display. Each artist made a print and exchanged it with a partner. Both artists then created a second print in response to the one they received. The resulting prints will be displayed in pairs to allow viewers to see both the original and the response. The pairs of prints reveal each individual artist’s sensitivity while reflecting some aspects of their partner’s work. The artists are a diverse group of Maine printmakers from all over the state.
The gallery at Circling the Square is open Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 6 pm and Friday and Saturday from 10 to 4 through August 4th. In November the show travels to Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, Maine.
