The Silence of Objects reflects Alan Mast's fascination with still life and architecture.

"During this past year I have focused on problems of painting still life. I’ve taken many tacks in style, and as I go forward I’m more inclined to see their purely abstract beauty. I find as I continue observing still life objects in “dialogue” with each other, that their obvious silence grows until they become immutable, and yet still agreeable to my  imposing color demands on them. Pretty interesting stuff, I’d say.Never know what the next painting will look like!"
