Decalcamania: Between the Sheets
Smith Union, Bowdoin CollegeLinda Murray and her students present a collection of works created using decalcamania. The exhibit is at David Saul Smith Union on the Bowdoin College campus in Brunswick, Maine. An artist reception will take place on Saturday, October 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Decalcamania is a wet watercolor technique used to create texture and pattern. Paint is introduced to wet paper, and plastic wrap is laid on top. Once the paint is dry and the wrap removed, the resulting patterns are used to create the final painting. All of the work in this exhibit was created using this technique as part of the process.
