• Intimate Portraits of Fanciful Creatures

Henry D Moore Library in Steuben

Craig and Barbara Snapp are Featured Artists for July at the Henry D. Moore Library in Steuben, Maine.  Their show will be available for viewing during library hours and the proceeds from all sales will go to the library.

The woods, shores, creeks and bays of Downeast Maine are filled with interesting creatures.  Some have colorful appearances and curious behaviors.  Others are more cryptic and subdued.  Intimate Portraits of Fanciful Creatures brings some of these creatures to life with a mix of realism, whimsy, and fantasy.

Artwork by Barbara Snapp includes realistic images and abstractions, sometimes accompanied by poems she has written to place the animal in context.  Craig Snapp’s photographs are examples of the “creatures” we can imagine in the shapes of tree stumps, driftwood, and other inanimate objects.

Hopefully, the exhibit will inspire your interest in the creatures that share your world and trigger your imagination to see other creatures in the trees and rocks and shadows that surround you.
