Points of View artist Alan Mast presents Intersections: Forms Observed, Forms Abstracted from August 2 through August 27 in the Garret Gallery.  There will be a reception on August 13 from 5 to 7 pm.

Alan has been beguiled alternately by forms he sees in the visible world and forms he has released from (or abridged from) that visible world.  Either way, basics are always in play in his work:

light/dark,

warm/cool color

intense/muted color

straight/curved

etcetera

Exemplifying these tensions are two paintings:  Street in Topsham is a realistic view, whereas Early Light brings the colors of a dawning day into a geometrically abstract scene.
