Points of View Artist Craig Snapp won 3rd place in the color photograph category in the Maine Photography Show 2014 for “Ditch Ice With Leaves”, a late fall scene in downeast Maine.  Juror Freeman Patterson commented “The sheer beauty of the natural world is with us wherever we are, but it becomes most apparent to us when we pause to observe the commonplace, as this photographer did.”

The show, held by the Boothbay Regional Art Foundation and sponsored by local businesses and camera clubs, is in its 9th year.  100 photographs were chosen by the juror from over 900 submitted.  The show will continue through May 2.  The Foundation’s Gallery is at 1 Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor.  Gallery Hours: Friday-Sunday 11:00-5:00 (Call 633-2703 for more information and weekday hours.)

This award comes right after Craig won the award for best picture in the Details and Macro category at the Joy of the Lens exhibition, on display in the Topsham Public Library through May 3.  This photograph also focused on the pleasant surprises that close observation brings.  “Woodland Friends” provides a more whimsical interpretation of nature than the sharper geometry of “Ditch Ice.”

More of Craig's work can be seen during the 2014 Art Walk season at Points of View Art Gallery, 18 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, Maine.
