Lucy Banfield, Barbara Bean, and Judith Long each have artwork juried into MECA’s second annual exhibit of work by continuing studies students.  Work by only 38 artists was selected from over 200 pieces submitted. Lucy and Barbara both exhibit metal assemblages.  Judith's entry is a cyanotype print.

Lucy said of her assemblage: "Tribute to 9/11 is an assemblage that happened in stages. As I was examining the miscellaneous typewriter keys I've accumulated,  I was drawn to the four letters, LOVE.  I knew right away that I wanted them to articulate. Then came the piece to slide them on, to allow that to happen.  Next, I needed a way for them to hang, hence, the two pillars and the base fashioned out of a 1950's film splicer.   Suddenly, the meaning of this piece came to the forefront;  from the word LOVE, connecting the two towers, mounted on a device, once used to cut, separate, and rejoin film into one. Out of this tragic event, some say,  came a more united nation. Perhaps that is the just what this " Tribute to 9/11" represents.
